CCCS supports noDAPL (2016-2017 work examples)
the movement to support and expose the truths of what's happening in Standing Rock was spirited by students on November 30th and December 1st, 2016 after I showed the video below for one of my lessons . Exposure has brought them to take matters into their own hands. It must have been our journey processing police brutality, the presidential election of Trump, and now the violent attacks on peaceful protestors at Standing Rock who want to protect our water. The building tensions in our nation: from police brutality to Trump's presidential election have given rise to 6th grade 10, 11, year olds at CCCS in my art class to sprout from their seeds and begin their fight against injustices.
I have remained solely a source of knowledge, healing, and support in their process understanding the world. Now I am proud to say that I can full heartedly support them in making their social justice, artistic visions come true, any way possible. They are our light, our social justice warriors. We must keep watering their growth.
